Some Hints for your Visit!
The island's only transportation is horses, bikes and walking. Most everywhere you look you will see horses and if your dog is in a chase mood it will not be good.
All three of the ferry lines (Arnold, Shepler's and Star Line) that service Mackinac Island allow well-behaved, leashed dogs to ride the ferry free of charge.
Not surprisingly, there is a leash law in the city, so avoid the temptation to let you dog have a run down Main Street. While I wouldn't encourage it, I will say that I've seen dogs off-leash in some of the more remote inland areas of the island.
